10 Forgotten 2000s Bands Worth Rediscovering
1. Scissor Sisters
Whatever genre Scissor Sisters were, we need to bring it back. This was feel-good music, pure and simple.
If you thought glam rock needed a touch of funky disco behind it, then Scissor Sisters had you covered. It wasn't just bubble-gum pop to be discarded, this group was writing solid vocal melodies, backed up with accomplished instrumentation. You might remember Laura as a piano driven pop song, with a somewhat catchy chorus, but it's got some hella funky guitar work throughout, and a sax solo to melt faces.
Flighty/Gorgeous took what Electric Six were doing and turned the camp element up to eleven. It was like combing the funky grooves of Jamiroquai with the disco-balladry of the Bee Gees. There wasn't much not to like.
This was a side of the 2000s music scene, we didn't know we needed. Their music was the perfect blending of witty lyricism, memorable pop melodies, filthy, funked-out bass lines and disco grooves. Seriously give Scissor Sisters a Youtube, you'll be surprised at just how many bangers they had.
If you can resist the urge to bust a move, then you must have the discipline of a monk.
