10 Forgotten 60s Rock Bands Worth Rediscovering

5. The Association

Take a stroll back through popular music history and you will come across, more frequently than you might imagine, many artists and bands who, though commercially successful in their own era have, over the ensuing years, gradually sunk from view. Whatever the reason, Californian band The Association fall into this category, and not for lack of depth in their material.

In the late '60s, this underrated band served up a string of immensely popular hits. Had you been around at the time, you would have heard Association singles such as Along Comes Mary, Cherish, Windy and Never My Love on heavy radio rotation.

Perhaps the band's smooth cocktail of hippy-flavoured, pop-friendly grooves were simply too tied to a certain era not to get blown away by the rise of hard rock during the '70s. Whatever the reason, it's undeniable that The Association possessed enough talent and song-craft to stand alongside the best of their time. To modern ears, if you are at all appreciative of '60s music, The Association still have much to offer.
