1. Harry Nilsson - Coconut (1972)
Harry Nilsson is one of those mythical, musical figures, who's music is universally recognised, even if his name doesn't immediately ring a bell. His music is so ingrained in modern pop culture, you've likely heard it without it even registering.
Everybody no doubt knows Everybody's Talkin' and One, as both have popped up on film and TV countless times. Sadly Nilsson never really received the mainstream recognition he deserved. Often regarded as America's answer to the Beatles, he was one of the most sort after ghostwriters of the '60s and '70s. His closest thing to a breakout came with the release of his seventh record, Nilsson Schmilsson. The celebrated hit, Without You, is perhaps the most emotive breakup song from the decade.
