10 Forgotten 90s Rock Bands Worth Rediscovering

4. Dawn Of The Replicants

One of my favourite bands of all time, and a fitting entry for this list, Scottish band Dawn Of The Replicants released a bunch of EPs during the mid-to-late '90's, and two albums; 1998's One Head, Two Arms, Two Legs and 1999's Wrong Town, Wrong Planet, Three Hours Late.

Though the group continued on into the early 2000's, the 90's are where you should begin exploring their wonderfully discography. DOTR's music was quirky, frequently dark, and equal parts cerebral and surreal. The legendary DJ John Peel, always a reliable arbiter of good taste, championed the band, but nevertheless they never received the success which their unique vision warranted.

Listen to the astonishing, glistening Candlefire below for a taste of DOTR's highly original sound. It's rare that a band manage to match high emotion and musical drama with lyrical depth and a polished sheen. DOTR can certainly rock hard when they want to, but that is only one weapon in their armoury.

This is a group whose songs are always fascinating and never predictable, each one a world unto itself. Their back-catalogue is also universally strong, meaning that there is plenty for you to dig out and enjoy.
