10 Forgotten Rock Albums That Need To Be Heard
6. Heavy Planet By Crazy Gods Of Endless Noise
This sole album, released in the mid-nineties by the little-known and splendidly-named Crazy Gods Of Endless Noise, must surely stand as one of the greatest 'forgotten' albums of all time.
The band surfaced in the Spring and Summer of 1996, delivered this masterpiece and promptly faded away. The reality, of course, is much more nuanced than that. Bands don't spring from nowhere and disappear overnight. Sometimes, though, it seems that way.
The Crazy Gods came from the sleepy seaside city of Bournemouth, UK. Their music, however, is as rousing as you could ask for. Fusing funk, rock, metal, hip-hop and samples, the God's easily match Faith No More and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers for both power and invention. That's a grand statement to make, but I'm confident that one listen to Heavy Planet will have you convinced.
Ant Hill (bass and vocals), Timo Baker (guitar, vocals, samples) and Gary King (drums and vocals) kick up an absolute storm here. It's quite clear that the band are having a blast, and I'm sure you will too.
