After being one of the most respected men in the rock scene for most of his career, Tom Petty doesn't seem to get the credit he deserves for his '80s period.
Think about this for a second. Here's a guy who made his trade in the '70s as an icon, and somehow didn't find a way to embarrass himself when transitioning to the music video format. Hell, some of the stories in his songs hit you so hard that you almost didn't need the music video.
On the surface, Southern Accents is a pretty broken album, especially considering the drug hell that most of the Heartbreakers were in at the time. When they decided to cut the double album idea down though, the Best of Everything is one of the true diamonds that they saved for the final cut, being one of the greatest breakup songs that Petty has ever made.
