10 Funniest Joke Songs In Rock Music
2. Happy Holidays You Bastards - Blink-182
As far as pop punk goes, humor in the lyrics pretty much is par for the course. Whether you're listening to Sum 41 or older legends like Green Day, you can always expect at least a little bit of tongue in cheek humor from one song to the next. Or if you're Blink-182, just making a full on comedy track in the middle of the adolescent madness.
By the time many Blink fans got to Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, they were already used to the sophomoric humor from stuff like Dysentery Gary and Touchdown Boy from the previous albums, and yet there's something about Happy Holidays that puts it just a notch above its counterparts. Structured as the same pop punk style of tune as the rest of the record, this is just a short burst from Mark Hoppus about how much the holidays get on his nerves.
This isn't your average family stuff either, as Hoppus complains first about not wrapping enough presents for Christmas to time jumping all the way to Labor Day and lamenting about his grandfather defecating in his pants after eating 7 hot dogs in a row. And what's tying this all together? Just a chorus about ditching someone unless he gets some sexual pleasure from their parents. While not exactly the most tasteful lyrics, the pure adrenaline boost of this song makes every other line hilarious from start to finish.
