10 Great Albums You Probably Missed In 2013

8. Portugal. The Man - Evil Friends

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5x_YoweEg8 Okay, if you like psychedelic rock, you really should have heard of Portugal. The Man. These guys are just plain awesome. I mean, how can you dislike a band that blatantly says €œI€™m just a creep in a t-shirt and jeans, I don€™t care€? Portugal. The Man are the quintessential hipster band of the lot, but don't let that turn you off, they're still great! Between defiant cries of "We don't need a modern Jesus" and bizarre claims that they are too evil to be our friends, they make that very evil so much cooler than it's been in years. Around for just about a decade now they have a knack for being subtle with their performances while going all out within their mad but oddly intellectual tracks - an absolute must-see live. Evil Friends was released last year and is a fantastic release for fans of indie-rock. The album is tinged with tongue-in-cheek Satanism references, but on the surface it€™s just plain fun. With equal parts electric synthesisers and brooding guitars the album feels like rock n€™ roll realised for the new generation. Plus, lead singer John Gourley easily has the coolest high-range voice we€™ve heard in years.
