10 Great Albums You Probably Missed In 2013

2. Metric €“ Synthetica

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttqMGYHhFFA Of all of these bands, Metric has to be the most confusing. Why you ask? Because they€™ve been around far too long to be on a list of albums you might have missed! Founded in 1998 by the insanely cool Emily Haines, Metric have crafted their identity as underground punk rockers who draw very heavily on synthesizers. Think of them as The Killers but with higher energy and a whole lot more attitude. Their latest work Synthetica is no let down for long-time fans. From sexy crooning to yelling at the top of her lungs, Emily Haines has a knack for keeping your attention throughout a variety of awesome songs. With their hero Lou Reed showing up for a guest appearance on one of the last tracks (The Wanderlust) shortly before his death later in the year, this is something of an achievement for the band as well. The lead single will tell you everything you need to know. Youth Without Youth channels the style of Gary Glitter into a defiant and memorable chant for reckless youthfulness and it really does make you wanna jump around at a concert. As an outspoken advocate of feminism, Emily Haines makes one hell of an in-your-face frontman...or is that frontwoman? If you want to really get moving, Synthetica is a great album to put on. It€™s got that modern electronica sound but still rings out with all the energy of a punk rock show.
