10 Great Albums You Probably Missed In 2013

1. Twenty One Pilots €“ Vessel

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pmv8aQKO6k0 The final entry in this list constitutes, in our opinion, the greatest up and coming band currently around. Twenty One Pilots are the inventors of their own genre, known commonly as schizoid-pop. Frontman Tyler Joseph proves on their studio debut, Vessel, that he has incredible chops as both a rapper and a singer; hooking you in with what he describes as poetry that gets too long meaning he needs to start rapping to fit all the lyrics in. Using synthesisers, piano, drums and the odd ukulele, Twenty One Pilots are a duo that can construct incredible dance music with surprising intellect behind it. The influences on this album are broad, clearly encompassing young pop-punk bands such as Fall Out Boy while layering it into a Daft Punk-esque sound that is still so unique it can€™t really be classified as anything but new. This is an album that needs to be heard to be understood - if you listen to Car Radio once, we guarantee you€™ll be mesmerised. As if the music on its own isn€™t enough, Tyler and Josh have an unbelievable talent as a live act as well' opening for Paramore they were the rare kind of support band that actually managed to upstage the main act. If you haven€™t heard of these guys, then we implore you to check them out - even if they're the only name on this list you remember. What great albums did you feel were underrated in 2013? Let us know in the comments!
