10 Great Bands Almost Ruined By Their Frontmen

5. Creed - Scott Stapp

WikipediaWikipediaSure, Creed are another band that might not be too involved with the word 'great', but hang in there with this one. When Creed broke up in 2004 in the most heartbreaking of fashions (a statement via their website about a lack of 'creative juices'), the three members with actual talent (Mark Tremonti, Brian Marshall, and Scott Phillips) went on to form the brilliant Alter Bridge with Myles Kennedy, who is also famed for his contributions to Slash's solo project. That nicely swept their former band under the rug, seemingly forever, as Alter Bridge enjoyed multiple successes, arena tours, and critical acclaim. Their former frontman Scott Stapp finally fell by the wayside after a failed solo career, and the whole world finally breathed a sigh of relief as the Floridian warbler vanished from sight. That was, until 2009, when Creed got back together. Amazingly, after just five years away, Stapp was back to irk us all once more. His Eddie Vedder-impersonating vocal style, his God-bothering lyrics, his absolute stupidity (he once said that he doesn't view oral sex with another woman as cheating on his wife), and the still-fresh image of that sex tape with Kid Rock, it was all back in the forefront of our minds. Unbelievably, he's managed to ruin both his own band and the band his ex-colleagues formed to get away from him. There's no justice.
