10 Great Bands With One Terrible Album
5. One More Light - Linkin Park
You can't really expect a band to make the same type of song for the rest of time.
Even though acts like Motorhead and AC/DC do tend to have their music down to a formula at times, it's unfair to the artist to expect them to just rewrite their old hits. There comes a point where you want to branch out, but Linkin Park may have bit off a little more than they could chew on One More Light.
That's not to say that Linkin Park can't experiment well though. If you go back to the early 2010's, their album A Thousand Suns is the perfect example of how to make a great artistic statement while also stepping out of your comfort zone. After coming off of a heavy album like the Hunting Party though, One More Light feels like making a drastic left turn, with most of the songs being watered down pop rock.
Though there are some songs that hit a lot different after Chester Bennington's death like the title track and Heavy, a lot of these songs feel like they're trying to shake off their rock credentials and make the kind of music that people like the Chainsmokers made so popular.
This is far from being the worst album ever made, but it just stings that much more to know that this had to be Chester's swan song.
