10 Great Hip Hop Albums With Only One Bad Song
7. Who Gon Stop Me - Jay Z And Kanye West
And this is where a good portion of the hip hop community is liable to kick your humble author's ass. When you think about it, Watch the Throne should be one of the greatest hip hop albums ever made, bringing together two of the greatest rappers in the game and having them trade bars with each other. Just because you have two of the greatest rappers alive though, that doesn't mean that everything they do automatically turns to gold.
Much like MF Doom's entry, Who Gon Stop Me tends to fall into the trap of being crazy dated these days compared to when it was released. With most of the glitchy production going over well back in the day, hearing Kanye get busy over a distorted beat should have been a slam dunk. And it was...until the dubstep boom of the early 2010's ended up going way too out of style.
While most artists now are trying to pull from the template that Ye was using back then, both him and Hova look like they were trend chasing on Who Gon Stop Me, which would be proven correct when Kanye would go on to include even more distorted noise a few years later on Yeezus. Who Gon Stop Me may be a decent song, but you can listen to it and pinpoint the exact time that it was made.
