10 Great Rock Bands Snubbed From The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

9. Pantera - 12 Years

Up until recently, heavy metal had not been well-represented in the Hall, with Black Sabbath being the first inductee in 2006. As time has passed, many faces of hard rock and metal have joined the rank of champions like Deep Purple and Metallica. Whether metal has a place among rock legends, Pantera are more than deserving of a spot.

While starting out as a glam-tinged metal band, Pantera trudged into the 90's making some of the nastiest metal anyone had ever heard. As Phil Anselmo shrieked like a madman, the band locked in on riffs that were demonic and absolute earcandy at the same time. When the rhythm section locked in, it was virtually impossible to not bang your head to the band's grooves.

The band also brought Dimebag Darrell to the spotlight, whose lightning-fast runs and emotional solos made him one of the greatest guitarists in metal history. With both drummer Vinnie Paul and Dime passing away in the 2000's, any induction for Pantera would be incredibly bittersweet. However, when it comes to the harder sides of rock, Pantera were true innovators whose influence is still reverberating in metal spheres.
