10 Great Rock Bands Snubbed From The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

8. The Stone Roses - 10 Years

The Stone Roses were one of the important alternative bands to come out of Britain in the late 80's. Far from being the first alternative act, the band's use of jangle pop and psychedelic effects made them stand out from every other band in the Manchester scene. The band's debut is an absolute essential for anyone who considers themselves an alternative fan along with their hard-edged follow-up Second Coming.

Along with having an eclectic mix of influences themselves, The Stone Roses were hitting on a sound that would become huge just a few years down the road: Britpop. Along with being a favorite of Oasis leader Noel Gallagher, bands like Blur, with their mix of disparate influences to form their sound, owe a debt of gratitude to the Stone Roses.

When it comes to rock and roll, the Stone Roses may not have been as straightahead as, say, Nirvana, but were ultimately a breath of fresh air without whom an entire rock genre couldn't exist. As a decade has now passed since their eligibility, the time is now to give the Stone Roses their just due.
