10 Great Rock Bands Snubbed From The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
5. Iron Maiden - 16 Years
When it comes to rock in the 80's, one genre that cannot be overlooked is the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. While there have been some bands that went on to greater things in later years, Iron Maiden were the muscle behind the British scene that made metal a household name.
From the Paul Di'anno early years to the glory days of Bruce Dickinson, this band forged a musical assault that remains unmatched in metal history. If the older guards of metal made the sound heavy, Maiden gave each riff a ferocious gallop courtesy of mastermind Steve Harris.
The band also took a different approach than what was expected of heavy metal bands on the lyrical front. Rather than pen lyrics all about the evils of Satan, Maiden often addressed topics from everyday evils and works of fiction.
Since Maiden has been eligible for over a decade now, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have never considered them for nomination. Once the band finally gets their proper induction, The Rock Hall is in for a slamfest that would certainly leave Eddie proud.
