10 Great Rock Bands Snubbed From The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
6. Motorhead - 18 Years
Motorhead were one of the progenitors of hard rock. After facing every possible setback, bassist and certified badass Lemmy Kilmister led his band through over 40 years of rock and roll debauchery. The sound of Motorhead was the sound of thrash metal to come, with its pummeling drums, insanely loud guitars, and gravelly vocals erupting from Kilmister's throat.
Through every heavy project, Lemmy always defended the fact that Motorhead was a rock and roll band first and foremost. When listening back to the band's classics, you can really hear why. Some of the tracks are metallic, but each tune Lemmy wrote had the heart of rock and roll that the first trailblazers like Chuck Berry and Little Richard had. Across 22 records, the band rarely ever put out a mediocre release and gave us future metal anthems like "Ace of Spades."
With Lemmy since passing away in 2015, the Hall of Fame ceremony for Motorhead would be bittersweet yet respectful. The dream scenario would be for all of Lemmy's hard rock successors from James Hetfield to Duff McKagen to join with the surviving members of the band to deliver a tribute to the unquestionable godfather of heavy metal.
