10 Great Rock Songs Written In Anger

5. You Oughta Know - Alanis Morissette

In an era dominated by brooding 20-something males, Alanis Morissette stood out as the alt-rock princess on the scene. Her first mainstream release Jagged Little Pill notched up 6 hit singles on the Rock Charts, but the standout was the venomous "You Oughta Know."

The whole song shows Morissette tearing into one of her exes, where she picks up every facet of his personality along with taking aim at her suitor. Even in the verses, you can tell that she is trying to keep it together but at the same time refusing to hold anything back when calling this man out on his !*$%.

Though it could be directed at anyone, the actual rap sheet of possible influences comes straight from Hollywood. Morissette has never revealed the true identity of the ex, but the blame has been placed on everyone from Friends star Matt LeBlanc to Full House comedian Dave Coulier. Comedian Bob Saget has even admitted that the call in the middle of dinner line from the song was something that he witnessed firsthand. Whether or not the song was directed at any of these men, it still holds up as one of the best breakup songs of the 90's that you can use to blast any ex who has done you wrong.
