10 Great Songs That Never Made A Studio Album

7. Dead In The Water - Noel Gallagher

Ever since Oasis' breakup, many fans have kept tabs on the Gallagher brothers' respective solo careers. For many fans of song crafting, Noel Gallagher's solo work is a clear indicator as to where some of the Oasis magic went. While Who Built The Moon? was indisputably Noel at his finest, the entire record was more psychedelic than some Noel fans were accustomed to.

However, with special editions of the album came this stripped down live cut of an unreleased song called "Dead in the Water." And it may just be one of the greatest ballads that Noel has ever written.

The song consists of only an acoustic guitar, piano, and Noel's vocals. But the song doesn't need glossy production to elevate it. The song's lyric of staying true to one's lover works great in this context. It's as if the singer is in a lone boat, willing to die out at sea before he lets go of his love. And just as soon as it begins, it quietly exits with a few guitar strums, leaving the listener in shambles. Hard to believe when you realize this was most likely just an average session for Mr. Gallagher. Cheers!
