10 Greatest Animated Music Videos Of All Time
4. Linkin Park – Breaking The Habit
Breaking The Habit is one of American rock band Linkin Park's most well-known and earliest hits, released in 2004 from their second album Meteora. The song became with the fifth consecutive single from Meteora to reach number one on the Billboard Modern Rock chart, with the group breaking the record for the first band to ever do this.
There are several things that are great about the Breaking The Habit music video. For a start, it incorporates anime-style animation, something which is relatively infrequent in most western music videos. Animated by Studio Gonzo, it was supervised by Kazuto Nakazawa, who previously directed the animated sequence in Kill Bill: Volume 1.
Not only that, but there's an interesting urban/crime-based theme to the video, which begins with a dead man lying in the street and then eventually works backwards, showing who the person is and how they died. The simultaneously gritty, flashy and moody aesthetic makes for a fantastic, memorable music video experience.
