10 Greatest Classic Rock Albums Of The 1970s
8. Eagles - Hotel California
As soon as Eagles struck their first notes in the music industry, they became international superstars. Still to this day, they stand as one of the most influential bands of all time while their greatest hits album is officially the biggest selling album ever. Much of this fame is thanks to their iconic 1976 release, ‘Hotel California’.
Even though they were already one of the biggest bands in the world in 1976, they ascended to musical immortality through to this record.
‘Hotel California’ hit #1 in almost every album chart it entered thanks to its chilled but engrossing rock vibe, which is epitomised by the lead single, ‘Hotel California’. Other singles from this record also included the classics ‘New Kid in Town’ and ‘Life in the Fast Lane’, highlighting the star-studded track list this album possessed.
Past the singles, there were several more great tunes on this album such as ‘Wasted Time’ and one of the few Eagles songs not at least co-written by Glenn Frey, ‘Try and Love Again’.
