10 Greatest Corey Taylor Vocal Performances

9. Through Glass - Come Whatever May

Since Corey has been known as the head madman in Slipknot, many Maggots didn't really know what to make of Stone Sour when they first came out. Sure, Taylor may have still been out front, but the subdued ballads like "Bother" were a bit lackluster compared to the ragers we were used to. They might have been heading towards softer territory, but "Through Glass" showed that they were still a rock band at the end of the day.

Compared to the suicidal themes of the band's previous single, this song has a more directed approach, as it rails against the artificiality of celebrity culture. While the song starts off pretty slow with just an acoustic guitar, it builds to one of the greatest choruses of Taylor's career, where he perfectly balances his softer register with a rock and roll swagger.

Though the tune doesn't really dial everything up to 10 just yet, we are treated to one of Taylor's most melodic screaming passages in the last few seconds as he says "It's the stars that LIE." You may have just been listening to Stone Sour, but that scream alone had faint whispers of Slipknot underneath it. Corey has definitely had more intense vocal passages than this, but "Through Glass" is a great showcase of everything he could do with his voice.
