10 Greatest Diss Tracks In Rock History

9. I'll Stick Around - Foo Fighters

You'd be hardpressed to find too many people in the rock community who say that they can't stand Dave Grohl. Even if the music of the Foo Fighters isn't always everyone's cup of tea, the feel-good attitude and the massive amount of charm Grohl has at the best of times can rarely be denied. Then again, there's at least one person who managed to get under his skin more often than anyone else.

With the release of the first Foo Fighters demo, many people caught the first glimpse of Grohl away from the madness of Nirvana. Though none of these songs directly deal with the fallout and death of Kurt Cobain, I'll Stick Around is one of the more caustic rockers on the record. Despite the rest of the album being full of nothing more than word association for lyrics, this spite-bomb has a very clear target: Courtney Love.

Being the Yoko Ono of her generation, Love gets the blame of causing Nirvana to fall apart, which Grohl doesn't necessarily deny on this song. As he goes through different phrases like "rehearsed insanity" and not owing {her} anything, you can tell that he's still hurting over the loss of his friend and seeing his widow as a fame-hungry hanger-on. So next time you throw this on your hard rock playlist, just remember that this anger is coming from a genuine place.
