10 Greatest Diss Tracks In Rock Music History

9. You Oughta Know - Alanis Morrissette

Anyone can find themselves on the end of a bad breakup though. As much as it might be fun to tell off your ex at the moment, you sometimes come off looking a bit too aggressive and becoming the bad guy. Then again, it's nice to sometimes hear the other side of the story.

Out of all the breakup songs of the '90s, Alanis really deserves a spot at the top with You Oughta Know. So, would this just be some cheating rock star who treated her like trash? Actually, no...turns out it was just Uncle Joey. From the background behind the song, Alanis has said that this was inspired by her former relationship with Dave Coulier, who was known to be the good natured uncle on Full House.

The same kind of wholesome humor can't be found here though, with Alanis sounding like she's either on the verge of a mental breakdown or ready to raise hell at a moment's notice. Given all the anger here though, there's no real threat, with Alanis just saying that she hopes he feels the pain of her nails whenever she scratches them against someone else's back. Granted, that might end up sounding a little worse than a threat. You might be safe with your new flame, but just remember she's watching. ALWAYS WATCHING.
