10 Greatest Diss Tracks In Rock Music History

6. Glorified G - Pearl Jam

Usually when we're talking about diss tracks in rock and roll, it normally comes from two bands having a sparring session in public. Instead of just talking things through, it's always more fun to make the tabloids run wild by trash talking your competitors. On the other hand, some diss tracks tend to come from within the band itself.

Amidst the shuffling drummers of Pearl Jam in the early days, Eddie Vedder was never really all that friendly with Dave Abbruzzese, whose love of the fame rubbed him the wrong way. It ended up getting even worse when Vedder learned that Dave had also purchased two guns with his royalties, before the drummer quickly clarified that they were glorified versions of pellet guns.

The start of an argument may have ended there, but it was clearly still on Vedder's mind, considering that Glorified G is practically the entire conversation that Dave was telling him. If you were to just listen to the song though, the drummer doesn't come off as the most wholesome character, with Vedder painting him as the alpha male of the group who ends up feeling so manly whenever he is armed. Only a few years after this record, Abbruzzese was out the door and replaced by Jack Irons. You can't really put the blame on this song specifically, but I imagine it certainly didn't help with the hard feelings.
