10 Greatest Emo Songs Ever Written

9. Taking Back Sunday €“ Cute Without The "E" (Cut From The Team)

There's something incredibly charming about how unsubtle and over the top emo and post-punk bands used to name their tracks back in the 2000s. Cute without the €œe€... it spells cut, get it? The song was released in 2002 on Taking Back Sunday's debut album Tell All Your Friends, which received critical acclaim. The song has everything you'd want from an emo track: an angst-filled tone, wailing delivery and a story about failed love (in the form of a girlfriend cheating on her boyfriend). With lyrics like €œand will you tell all your friends you've got your gun to my head€ and €œI know you well enough to know you never loved me€, you really can't go wrong. And who can forget the iconic opening, €œyour lipstick, his collar, don't bother Angel, I know exactly what goes on€. The official video for the song was heavily inspired by the David Fincher movie Fight Club, starring Edward Norton and Brad Pitt. The video features footage of the band performing spliced together with recreations of scenes from the movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ap0mqwvf7H0
