10 Greatest Ever Stone Roses Songs
1. Ten Story Love Song
Ten Story Love Song is one of the few tracks on Second Coming that sidesteps the Led Zeppelin influence and recalls the effervescent beauty of The Stone Roses’ debut but it’s still a departure for the band in its own way.
Typically, Roses lyrics were more concerned with myth making than soul baring, riddled with cryptic allusions, self aggrandisement and symbolism. Ten Story Love Song is the most straight forward and sincere love song they ever recorded. Ian Brown crooning, “Take my hand baby I’m your man,” lacked the mysticism of their earlier work but had a charm all of its own.
In a sad sign of things to come, drummer Reni doesn’t appear in the song’s promotional video because he didn’t turn up for the shoot.
