10 Greatest Female Hard Rock Singers Of All Time

3. Ann Wilson - Heart

People have long thought of what could have happened if Led Zeppelin had never called it quits. Though no one could have replaced the late John Bonham, it always felt like a missed opportunity to not hear Robert Plant's visceral scream in the world of hard rock anymore. On the other hand, we did have a worthy substitute...and her name was Ann Wilson.

Right as the '70s started to shift into high gear, Wilson and her sister Nancy quickly turned into some of the biggest stars in the country off the strength of barnburners like Magic Man and Barracuda. Even though this was the time where women weren't shown to be rockstars, no one was saying that about Ann, whose voice could shake the rafters of any structure depending on what song you found her in.

Don't go thinking that Ann is one note though, as she let her voice soar throughout the '80s on everything from pop to R&B to even bluesy rock and roll in equal measure (embarrassing '80s fashion notwithstanding). More than just a career endeavor, it's almost as if Ann's knack for writing and singing fantastic tunes is almost being assisted by some spiritual guide.

While there are some cheesy moments here and there, Ann Wilson has not lost an iota of strength in her voice since she first started.
