10 Greatest Female Singers In Rock History
3. Hayley Williams - Paramore
The idea of a frontman has been around for so long that you can practically make a check list for everything that you need. All you have to do is find someone with a decent enough vocal range and some incredible stage presence, and you can practically get by making some lackluster rock music until the end of time. When you have someone like Hayley Williams, the competition doesn't even seem fair.
Although she has taken her time solo for the past few years, Williams feels most at home when she's fronting Paramore, with some of the most energetic performances in modern rock. From the start back on albums like Riot and All We Know is Falling, she was already destined to become a star, going for the pop punk approach while having a voice that could even go toe to toe with the likes of Bruce Dickinson at times.
As the band started to dip their toes into the softer side of pop rock though, Williams never lost any of her edge, bringing the same kind of emotion to the subdued cuts that you would get from some of the ragers, and even managing to combine both of the styles on songs like All I Wanted. While you can definitely call Paramore's albums eclectic from one record to the next, it takes someone superhuman to actually pull each of the styles off this well.
