10 Greatest Final Rock Albums Of The 2010s
5. Hot Sauce Committee Part Two - Beastie Boys
The story of rap rock legends' Beastie Boys' final album is a strange one.
In 2009, Adam "MCA" Yauch announced that a new collection of work was coming, and intriguingly revealed that it had taken the band in a "bizarre" direction.
The new album, titled Hot Sauce Committee, was pencilled for a September release, but this was pushed back when Yauch announced he was battling cancer, Sadly, the rapper would succumb to the disease in 2012.
Though the news of MCA's passing at the age of just 47 shook the rock world to its core, at least he lived to see the release of his band's final album. Hot Sauce Committee Part Two (because of course the Beastie Boys released Part Two before Part One) received glittering appraisals across the board, with critics and fans remarking how sharp the trio sounded even after decades in the business.
Featuring guest appearances from Nas and Santigold, the album proved that the Boys could hang with the modern crowd. In hindsight, it also served as a loving tribute to Yauch, without whom the Beastie Boys would have never reached the heights they did.
