10 Greatest Final Rock Music Albums Of The 1990s

9. Traveling Wilburys Vol. 3 - Traveling Wilburys

What happens when you take four undisputed rock legends and Jeff Lynne of the Electric Light Orchestra, and stick them in a recording studio together?

You get the Traveling Wilburys!

Alongside JL, the Wilburys were comprised of George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, and Bob Dylan. You can see now why Lynne was left out of the earlier description.

What began as a B-side for a Harrison solo album soon took on a life of its own, and this supergroup to end all supergroups ended up putting out two studio albums.

Yes, two studio albums, despite the fact that one of them carried the title of "Vol. 3". That was a joke by Harrison, because of course it was. It's always the quiet ones.

Unfortunately, by the time Vol. 3 came around, Orbison had passed away, leaving the Wilburys a brother down. Whilst not quite as good as Vol. 1, this follow-up had a nice array of catchy tunes and musical jokes, including the utterly absurd Wilbury Twist.

Harrison didn't want to do another album, so that was the end of that. It didn't last long, but the era of the Wilburys sure was a lot of fun.
