10 Greatest Final Rock Music Albums Of The 1990s

2. Made In Heaven - Queen

However you slice it, Freddie Mercury was one of the greatest rock stars to ever grace the Earth with his presence.

Flamboyant, bombastic, captivating, intelligent, and so damn talented, the boy from Zanzibar blazed a trail like no one else before him, which is why it was so totally devastating when he passed away from AIDS complications in 1991.

Mercury had been living with the disease since 1987, working on two Queen albums after that before his passing. Then, four years after his death, the band put out one more record with him on it.

Made in Heaven was completed by the surviving members of Queen using various bits of material recorded prior to Freddie's passing. Don't think of it as a bunch of odds and ends though, as this is a fully fleshed-out tracklist full of great songs.

The fact that so much work went into crafting Made in Heaven shows how strongly the band felt about preserving Mercury's legacy, and they did a damn good job in making sure his final album wasn't a flop.

What could have been a shameless cash-grab instead became a fitting tribute to one of the best to ever do it.
