10 Greatest Final Rock Music Albums Of The 2000s

9. Brainwashed - George Harrison

On 29 November 2001, George Harrison became the second Beatle to visit the great Cavern Club in the sky when he succumbed to cancer at the age of 58.

Almost a year later, thanks to work done by Jeff Lynne, session drummer Jim Keltner, and Harrison's son Dhani, the star's twelfth and final studio album entered the world 15 years after George's last recorded effort.

Brainwashed had been delayed numerous times during Harrison's life, and many fans were worried that it would be a cheap cash-grab that would tarnish the dead musician's incredible legacy. Thankfully, those involved with the project took great care to make sure this didn't happen.

The reviews for Brainwashed were staggering, with some commentators calling it Harrison's best work since the acclaimed All Things Must Pass, and one of the best pieces of solo Beatles action in decades.

It even won George a posthumous Grammy for the song Marwa Blues, as well as selling over 1 million copies worldwide.

Considering how many other "from the vault" albums have been total trash, it was a gigantic relief to see that one of the all-time greats would not be going out on a dud.
