10 Greatest Final Rock Music Albums Of The 2000s

4. We Love Life - Pulp

Whilst The Verve were somewhat Britpop adjacent, Jarvis Cocker and Pulp were firmly in the midst of the movement. They were right up there with Oasis and Blur as leading lights of the genre, with their song Disco 2000 going on to become a standard of the era.

The Gallagher brothers made it to 2009 before their hatred for each other proved too much to bear, and Blur's latest album came out in 2023. As for Pulp, they bowed out much sooner with 2001's We Love Life.

Produced by legendary weirdo Scott Walker, We Love Life took a more relaxed approach to music, resulting in several softer pieces like the scorned romance ballad, Bad Cover Version. Fans really liked it, sending it to number six in the charts, and critics also approved of this change in direction from the former hellraisers.

Alas, Bad Cover Version would prove to be Pulp's last single for 11 years, and there's still not been a follow-up to We Love Life. The individual members have all been very busy since the break-up, so don't expect a sequel any time soon.

Also, Scott Walker sadly passed away in 2019.
