10 Greatest Forgotten Songs Of The 2000s
5. Feeder - Seven Days In The Sun
While they maintain a strong following, on a larger scale Feeder remain primarily remembered for Just a Day and (to their chagrin) the brand new car anthem Buck Rogers. Between the late ‘90s to mid-’00s especially, though, they were on a tear, and this - the second single from 2001’s Echo Park - is a criminally underrated track.
Feeder emerged on the tail of the grunge scene, though their pop chops distinguished them from many maudlin bands of the era. Seven Days in the Sun is a fantastic distillation of that sound. The guitars are massive but bright, the dynamics straight out of the Pixies playbook, gentle strummed verses, overdriven choruses.
In time (and off the back of the tragic loss of drummer Jon Lee), Feeder would slow things down and tread the AOR path. This, then, is their final celebration of misspent youth, songs about holidays, friends, and being reckless before the time comes to settle down.
They never became the megastars they once looked as though they could, but Feeder’s discography goes way beyond the handful of punchy tunes and sad ballads either side of this sun soaked belter.
