10 Greatest Hair Metal Songs
3. Pour Some Sugar On Me - Def Leppard
Ever since they hit it big off the back of Pyromania, nothing seemed to be in Def Leppard's favor anymore. After working on Hysteria for the better part of three years and drummer Rick Allen losing an arm in the process, there was no way that anything could have possibly lived up to the hype. While it initially looked like this album would sink like a stone, Pour Some Sugar On Me turned out to be one of the greatest songs of the entire genre.
Which is crazy to think about considering it didn't take much time at all. Outside of the 3 year wait for the album, this track was originally just thrown together in a few minutes and released in its most basic form. Then again, when you have a song this perfect, you don't need to mess with it too much, especially when every band member hammers the hook home with everything they have.
Although the lyrics just go back to sexual euphemisms at the end of the day, there's a certain innocence that comes with this song that makes it sort of endearing. It's not exactly the most subtle in places, but this is how to perfectly toe the line between slightly stupid and absolutely transcendent music.
