10 Greatest Hard Rock Frontmen Of All Time
6. Paul Stanley - KISS
And from the twisted metal circus we move on to...just the rock and roll circus. Granted, it's hard to really qualify KISS as a circus act seeing how they pretty much perfected the kind of music we know them for today. At a time when rock was getting a bit too stale from a visual perspective, these four leather clad badasses unleashed mayhem onstage and set the entire rock scene on fire.
Although pretty much every member had their own gimmick from Gene Simmons' demonic blood spitting to Ace Frehley's smoking guitar, the real star of the show was Paul Stanley, who really made the art of rock and roll feel like a spiritual awakening. Even when throwing on the group's classic live album Alive!, Stanley is all about keeping the audience's attention with every word, almost taking on the persona of a hard rock preacher as he makes his subjects bow to the Almighty Church of Rock and Roll.
Even when he's not singing the song, Stanley is always there to hold up his role in the band, whether it be through locking in on a riff or introducing the other members of the group when they get their chance to shine. At a time when rock stars were expected to just be themselves onstage, Paul Stanley created one of the greatest hard rock personas that no one would soon forget.
