10 Greatest Hard Rock Moments On Live TV

7. System of a Down on SNL

For most mainstream bands, your arrival on SNL as the musical guest feels like a sort of rite of passage. Just like the cover of Rolling Stone magazine used to be back in the day, the headlining slot in Studio 8H is probably a milestone that people take fairly seriously in the business. When your plan as a band was to go against the grain though, you can imagine that System of a Down's appearance was a little more hectic to say the least.

After already causing a media firestorm after their single Chop Suey was pulled from stations in the wake of 9/11, the band came back even more political when they were invited back on their tour cycle for Mezmerize. Performing their signature hit BYOB, things seemed to be going as smooth as they can until the last few seconds of the tune.

Getting too much into the spectacle of the show, Daron Malakian takes his screaming a bit too far and delivers a roar of "F**K YEAH" before going into the final breakdown of the song. Having no time to cut to black or anything, this got System banned from the show and they would never trouble 30 Rock ever again. Then again, it sometimes takes a stunt like this to wake the people up.
