10 Greatest Hard Rock Songs Of The 1980s

8. I Want It All - Queen

For most of the '80s, Queen didn't really belong in the discussion of hard rock bands anymore. Even though they were still some of the biggest musicians in the world, the sounds of records like the Game were a far cry from the prog rock and experimental cuts they made in their prime. After they came off of their last few pop affairs though, they had enough gas left in the tank for another showstopping rock song.

Complete with the signature acappella opening, I Want It All is one of the most grandiose singalongs that Queen had had in a while, giving way to Brian May's amazing guitar licks. Since we've basically been hiding behind keyboards throughout the majority of the album Hot Space, most of us were wondering where the hell this kind of music had been all this time.

Up until this point, Queen had been known for trying on different musical outfits, with rockabilly songs and sleek funk bass grooves driving them to the top of the charts. There is none of that on here though. From the way Roger Taylor locks into the groove to Freddie Mercury's bombastic voice, this was the Queen that most of the fans had missed out on for the past few years. Crazy Little Thing Called Love may have felt like a gimmick, but there isn't one disingenuous bone in this song's body.
