10 Greatest Live Rock Albums Since 2010
8. Pearl Jam - Live On Ten Legs
If we’re honest, even the fervent Pearl Jam fans likely haven’t picked up a new album in a little while. Even if you’ve not been keeping pace with their recent work, though, it’s tough to argue that they’re not one of the great live bands of our age.
On stage, they never give less than 100%, and what’s more, they boast a fantastic back catalogue to choose from. Ten Legs is a great time to check in on the band, who are slinging out the classics like “Animal” and “Rearview Mirror” (Eddie Vedder’s continued ability to more or less hit the high notes - impressive), as well as newer tracks like “Unthought Known” which slot in nicely to the band’s ever-expanding set.
For collectors, there are some interesting and well executed covers in here, too. Pearl Jam pay tribute to two pillars of British punk - Joe Strummer on opener “Arms Aloft” and John Lydon on an incredibly faithful “Public Image”, for reasons unknown.
It’s impressive to see a band refuse to rest on its laurels or do the obvious thing on stage when it would be so easy to do so. As uncool as it sounds, they’re proper professionals.
