10 Greatest Metal Singers Of All Time
9. Axl Rose
Once the 80's rolled around, the metal scene was not lacking in phenomenal singers. From power metal kings to some hair metal screamers, each subgenre of metal was covered with incendiary frontmen. Once Guns N Roses came along though, the game had changed.
While many people tend to think of Slash when it comes to GNR, Axl Rose is the band's true star whose antics behind a microphone were unmatched. Axl's vocal delivery was the perfect blend of manic intensity and melodic brilliance. On one side you had his rough rapid-fire delivery on songs like "Garden of Eden" and on the other you had his softer croon on ballads like "Sweet Child O Mine" and "November Rain."
This kind of vocal intensity would be taken to its absolute max every time the band hit the stage. While the band pummeled their instruments with a rock and roll strut, Axl took to the stage like a feral animal that had just been let out its cage. Though his energy was amplified exponentially, Rose never missed a beat and turned every word that came out his mouth into raw unfiltered rock and roll.
