10 Greatest Musical Duos Of ALL TIME

3. Chester Bennington And Mike Shinoda

As the nu metal genre dawned at the end of the '90s, it had yet to assume its classic sound. While acts like Korn and Fear Factory certainly had elements that would become commonplace later down the line, there was never that commercial element that would lead the movement to widespread acclaim. As it turned out, all you needed was two frontmen to get your point across.

Being one of the first nu metal acts to incorporate two vocalists, Linkin Park's Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda had one of the best vocal chemistries in rock and roll, combining the pertinent rap verses of the nu metal genre with a singer who could really belt. Whereas other players in the genre were having to sacrifice one strength for the other, you got the best of both worlds on albums like Hybrid Theory, which also made for some of the most effective vocal overlaps in rock.

Aside from just relying on their strengths, Chester and Mike also formed a sort of bond whenever they played onstage, acting like a band of brothers as they delivered their brand of teenage adolescence to the masses. Even though this era of rock is looked back on with disdain by many, it's tandems like these that show why this genre was so revered to begin with.
