10 Greatest Musical Duos Of ALL TIME

2. Michael Jackson And Quincy Jones

As far as duos are concerned in pop music, you usually pay attention to two singers together. Since the instrumentalists tend to take a back seat to most pop divas, most duos find their true calling in having someone they can ad lib off of during the production process. Then again, why bring in another voice when you can have a killer producer get the job done?

Although Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson were already respective superstars in their field before working together, their collaborations on some of Jacko's greatest albums became the sound of pop to come in the years that followed. Aside from their early flirtations with disco on Off the Wall, both Thriller and Bad saw Mike and Quincy as a steam train of hits, with nearly every single song up for grabs as a potential #1.

Jones was also there to be Michael's song coach, oftentimes telling him to come back with more material when it was needed. To put that in perspective, one such occasion when Quincy asked him to step up his game, Jackson wrote Billie Jean and Beat It in the exact same night. Given that they were each sonic forces all their own, it's no real secret that Michael's streak for all time classic material dries up right when Quincy left the fold.
