10 Greatest Nu Metal Albums Of All Time

9. Limp Bizkit: Significant Other (1999)

Few tracks have ever really triggered rage worldwide the way Break Stuff did. A smash hit single and a water shed moment in nu metal history, it put Limp Bizkit on the map which is either a great or terrible thing depending on who you ask.

Another equally charming hit was Nookie, a track that really encapsulated a toxic relationship without so much as a hint of sophistication. What Limp Bizkit lacked in good taste they more than made up for in attitude and intensity. Taking the venom of debut LP Three Dollar Bill, Y’all$ and upping the ante on every front, Limp Bizkit went from outsiders to kings of the explosively popular genre.

Durst’s often eccentric take on rap gets a surprise upgrade on N 2 Gether Now when Wu-Tang favourite Method Mad arrives. The album as a whole delivers the goods with headbanging rage, plenty of crass humour and Wes Borland’s musical creativity.

The album became mired in controversy after the Woodstock ‘99 performance of Break Stuff. Vandalism and various violent crimes were reported in the aftermath. Already a disaster with attendees struggling to get adequate food and water, Limp Bizkit’s raucous performance style was the last straw. The vicious swagger of much of their music would continue to spark trouble for years to come.
