10 Greatest Pop Punk Bands Of All Time
6. Panic at the Disco
By the time pop punk made its way into the '00s, there was already a certain way of going about it. From the crazy amount of hair gel you needed to the fistful of power chords used in every song, the formula for making a good pop punk act was starting to become much more frequent in the offices of record executives across the world. Amid all of that though, no one ever thought to take the genre to the theater.
Arriving alongside other emo acts like Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco were one of the more oddball outfits to come out of the pop punk scene. Laying on the makeup pretty thick, Brendon Urie's powerful belt across a Fever You Can't Sweat Out was enough to put any other rock frontman to shame, even outside of the punk circles. Despite a few cringey lines and obnoxiously long song titles though, Panic turned one of the most creative acts that the genre ever spit out.
Ever since their pseudo-theatrical debut, Panic have been all over the map stylistically, going from the folk rock tinge of something like Pretty. Odd. to becoming a full on solo outfit for Urie on Death of a Bachelor. While there's a lot more polish in Panic's sound these days, you don't get to that high a spot without having the tunes to back it up.
