10 Greatest Rhythm Guitarists In Rock Music History

6. Frank Iero - My Chemical Romance

Given the scene that he was born into, Frank Iero never intended to be in one of the biggest bands in the world. His background was the Jersey kid from the punk scene, where the main goal was to stay true to yourself and always play music that was from the heart. When he did hit the big time though, none of those ideals really had to change all that much with My Chemical Romance.

Since most of the emo scene was about wearing your heart on your sleeve, Frank was always responsible for the punk edge behind their sound, bringing the loud guitars into the mix and giving a perfect anchor for Ray Toro to play his blazing leads over. What Frank didn't get in terms of soloing he made up for with his use of different octaves going up and down the neck, almost acting like a second lead vocal along with Gerard Way on songs like Welcome to the Black Parade.

For all of the chops that Ray has to this day, you will still be remembering the first time you heard the main lick of Famous Last Words or those opening chords of I'm Not Okay that gets you ready for the rollercoaster ride that you're about to go on. Frank Iero might not be the best guitar player in the world and might not even want to become a virtuoso, but no amount of crazy guitar squeals can replace having good taste whenever you put on your six string.
