10 Greatest Rhythm Guitarists In Rock Music History

5. Bonehead - Oasis

If Oasis were one of the biggest bands that the '90s had ever seen, what happened once they reached the '00s? Though albums like Heathen Chemistry and Standing on the Shoulder of Giants still had some giant smashes on the record, you could tell that the same magic that came through on songs off of Definitely Maybe just weren't the same anymore. You can easily blame it on Be Here Now being too big to overcome, but one of the main reasons everything sank was because of Bonehead not being in the mix anymore.

During the band's prime, Bonehead was always the driving force behind the rhythm of the band, going to the punk rock school of basic chords and making for a massive wall of sound whenever they came over your speakers. While Noel Gallagher is integral to the Oasis sound and a fantastic guitar player in his own right, even producer Owen Morris talked about the freedoms of having free reign in the studio, always wanting to turn Bonehead up a lot more in the mix than Noel's guitars.

Then again, the music that Oasis made afterwards was probably not as suited to Bonehead's style, using much different textures that might not have fit when having huge chords stacked on top of it. Noel Gallagher is definitely the genius behind all of those records standing the test of time, but whenever you hear the chorus erupt on a song like Champagne Supernova, you really have Bonehead to thank for that.
