10 Greatest Rock Bands With More Than Two Guitarists

5. Periphery

Prog metal was bound to make an appearance on this list at some point. After all, that entire genre is about being as extra as possible.

Few modern bands have done the genre justice quite like Periphery, who were formed after member Misha "Bulb" Mansoor started gaining a following on online forums. It was the early noughties; they were simpler times.

Mansoor has remained the only constant member since 2005, but he's also been pretty insistent that he have two fellow guitarists to play with.

His first partners were Alex Bois and Anthony Marshall, although Marshall left pretty much as soon as he'd joined. Jake Bowen came along in 2007 to make up the numbers, and when Bois left in 2011, he was replaced by Mark Holcomb. Both men are still in the band today.

Periphery were joined by Adam "Nolly" Getgood between 2012 and 2017, meaning that, for five years or so, they had four guitarists on their books. Four! That more guitarists than some bands have members!

Was this a bit overkill? Sure, but nobody seemed to mind, so what can you do?
