10 Greatest Rock Music Album Covers Of The 1980s

4. Constrictor - Alice Cooper

After a three year hiatus from the music business, the King of Shock Rock Alice Cooper made his triumphant return with 1986's Constrictor.

Ok, semi-triumphant. It got to number 59 on the Billboard charts.

As well as the theme song to Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives, Constrictor also housed the songs Teenage Frankenstein, Give It Up, and The World Needs Guts.

None of them are Cooper classics by any means, but they're still worth a listen.

One thing that is a classic is the album's front cover, which serves as an homage to the dark lord's favourite reptile.

Cooper became famous for his association with snakes, so it was only a matter of time before one appeared on one of his albums.

Constrictor has one of the slithery boys wrapped around Alice's neck, blocking his mouth as it stares menacingly out at the audience.

Sure, the picture editing isn't terrific (it certainly wouldn't pass modern standards), but this cover says everything it needs to say with one image.

Alice Cooper likes snakes, he gets himself into dangerous situations, and his lyrics are venomous.

Also, it just looks really badass, and sometimes that's enough.
