10 Greatest Rock Music Guitar Solos Of The 2000s

6. Dani California - Red Hot Chili Peppers

When most people think of a guitar solo, they imagine a section that sits somewhere in the middle of a song, usually after the second verse. If you’re a fan of the 2006 Red Hot Chili Peppers single Dani Califnoria, then you know that there are other ways to do it.

The song, which served as the lead single from the band’s Stadium Arcadium double album, centres on the various hardships of the title character, who had appeared in the lyrics of several earlier Chilis songs. It was helped to popularity by its stellar music video, but that shouldn’t take away from how much fun the actual tune is.

After Anthony Kiedis finishes crooning about poor old Dani, guitarist John Fruiscante gets to really enjoy himself at the end of the song. The final minute is his, as he outros the track with a searing solo that carries this excellent song to a fantastic conclusion.

The solo is a direct homage to the Jimi Hendrix song Purple Haze, with Fruiscante using the exact same effects as the late maestro. It’s a hell of a way to end a song; one that more people should adopt.
